We pride ourselves on carrying out safe anaesthesia and surgical procedures at our clinic in Belmont. We use modern anaesthetic delivery systems along with newer drugs, an emphasis on effective post-operative pain relief and good surgical technique. This ensures discomfort from surgical intervention is minimal and surgical outcomes optimal where animals are not inclined to damage their surgical wounds.
Anaesthesia is induced by the Veterinarian and maintained by qualified Vet nurses who monitor the depth of anaesthesia throughout the procedure. Sophisticated gas anaesthetic machines enable us to adjust the level of anaesthesia for each patient. This prevents problems, making anaesthesia safe and the recovery smooth.
Soft tissue surgeries including desexing, tumour removal, exploratory abdominal surgery to remove foreign bodies, as well as bladder surgeries to remove stones are safely carried out.
Other procedures, such as dental surgical extractions, removal of foreign bodies such as barley grass seeds from dog’s ear canals, blades of grass from up behind the soft palate in cats as well as the placement of surgical drains in deep cat bite abscesses, ensure quick return to health.
Complicated soft tissue surgery and difficult bone surgeries requiring specialised implants are often referred to specialist veterinary surgeons. Early referral is often recommended, enabling the best and most appropriate care for individual cases.
